Leather Care & Break In
Holster Break InWhen first using your holster it should be tight for good firearm retention after your break in period. Follow these instructions for proper break in of your holster:
Unload your weapon and holster it. If it is a little too tight for your liking let it set overnight in your new holster. If it still a little too tight un-holster and re-holster for a while with firearm unloaded while wearing it around the house for a little while to help break it in.
DO NOT OIL OR WET THE HOLSTER DOWN! If holster is still too tight, wrap your UNLOADED handgun in a gallon ziplock bag and shove it in the holster overnight. That should do it, if it doesn't contact me.
Keep in mind that once you stretch the leather you cant shrink it back. Overtime the leather will stretch a bit on its own with the natural break in process. The best way to break in high quality leather gear is to let it break in naturally with time.
Accelerated stretching may result in your firearm becoming too loose in your holster.
Dont rush it...you will be rewarded with good retention over the long life of your high quality leather holster.
General Leather CareStore your new leather product in a cool dry place. High humidity can cause mildew, while dry heat and direct sunlight can cause drying and cracking. If your product becomes water soaked allow it to dry at room temperature and not with direct heat. After dry check the fit with your handgun unloaded! If fit is still to tight contact me for further instructions.
If your product should become dry or scratched, treat the exterior with a light coat of Kiwi natural/neutral paste wax.
Over time if you feel the need you can also treat the interior of your holster with spray silicone for leather to help protect against excess moisture.
It is recommend to un-holster your weapon while not wearing it. If you choose to leave your handgun or other product in the holster, check it daily for moisture, condensation, or corrosion.
Belt CareAllow a new belt to break in gently on its own.
Do not fold, bend or tightly coil new belts as they can crack or wrinkle when the leather is new and stiff. Normal wear will break your belt in pretty quickly.
Belts can be polished if needed over time using natural/neutral KIWI paste wax.
Do not oil your belt to soften it. If your belt gets wet lay it out flat and let it dry naturally.
Do not lay it out in the sun.
